Valmont vs La Mer Moisturizer

Valmont Moisturizing With A Cream and Creme de la Mer are both formulated with sumptuous ingredients that your skin will love, and each boasts a unique feature ingredient. These formulations make big claims, and come with high price tags to go along with them. Let’s break them down so you can see exactly what each cream will do for you.

Valmont Moisturizing With A Cream is made by Valmont, a Swiss skincare company that has been using cutting edge science and pure Swiss heritage to bring you a truly opulent line of skincare.

It is the first skin care product to be formulated with Triple DNA, a proprietary blend of plantain extract, magnesium dna, and other hydrating ingredients. It has been shown to reduce moisture loss, re-energize your skin, and slow the signs of aging. They say it retains 10,000 times its weight in water, and “strengthens and stimulates cells suffering from the effects of time or outside aggressions, revealing sublime and youthful radiant skin”.

The Triple DNA complex combines with a luxurious list of ultra hydrating and skin soothing extracts, as well as antioxidants to truly pamper your skin in luxury.

The rest of the ingredients list is an impressive list of hydrating and anti-aging ingredients, including plenty of natural extracts and humectants. Ingredients such as Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil and Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract act as antioxidants to protect your skin from environmental factors. Sodium Hyaluronate and Glycerin work to add a retain hydration to your skin. Plantago Lanceolata Leaf Extract, Shea Butter, and Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract soothe and protect.

Valmont promises that the Moisturizing with A Cream will visibly plump your skin, renew its vitality and youthful appearance, and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With continued use, it is said to repair previous damage to your skin as well.

Now the important question; do customers agree with the claims Valmont makes? Reviews of their products are not readily available on their website, but after a little bit of digging we were able to find some customer experiences. The general consensus is that it is very hydrating, almost more than combination skin would need, but is a “fantastic moisturizer”.

Creme de la Mer is made by La Mer (obviously); a company that harnesses the powerful resources of the sea to formulate an effective and luxurious skincare line.

The unique ingredient in La Mer products is called Miracle Broth. Miracle Broth takes 4 months of fermentation, as well as light and sound therapy to transform giant sea kelp and other vitamins and minerals into a powerful anti-aging formula. Sea kelp by itself has proven skin regeneration qualities, but Dr. Max Huber spent 12 years researching ways to improve upon it. His dedication paid off, and now his cell-renewing Miracle Broth is the base of all La Mer products.

Creme de la Mer is an ultra rich moisturizer that claims to improve the appearance and feeling of your skin within hours of the first use. It is formulated for drier skin, and with consistent use, it is said to repair your skin to be firmer and more rejuvenated, with fine lines and wrinkles diminishing considerably.

They also say that it will “visibly lift skin in just 8 weeks”. It is even said to soothe irritated or damaged skin.

The ingredient list shows why the cream is as effective as it claims. The addition of Eucalyptus Leaf oil keeps the product bacteria free, as well as providing an anti-microbial environment for your skin. Ingredients such as sodium gluconate, glycerin and magnesium stearate are the humectants that work to keep your skin hydrated all day long, while emollients such as algae extract and paraffinum add the moisture your skin craves.

Unlike Valmont Moisturizing with A Cream, Creme de la Mer does not contain parabens as a preservative, instead it uses Sodium Benzoate. Customers allergic to sesame seeds should steer clear however, as it does contain this common allergen. This is just a quick look at the impressive ingredient list, which really does have something for almost every skin concern.

While some of the ingredients in either cream do have some controversial opinions surrounding them, they have, for the most part, been shown to be safe, gentle and effective, and are a beautiful blend of nature and science.

Customers strongly agree with the claims La Mer makes with regards to the Creme de la Mer, with a majority of the reviews being overwhelmingly positive. They say that it keeps their skin feeling softer than it ever has, all day long. Customers who have used it for a few weeks or more say that they have definitely noticed a reduction in wrinkles, as well as an overall improvement to their skin’s softness and texture. In the few negative reviews, the concerns were with the fragrance, or that it didn’t absorb completely into their skin.

In looking at both of these luxurious creams, the verdict is that Creme de la Mer is better for overall firming, lifting and its reverse aging process, while Valmont Moisturizing with A Cream is an excellent choice for deep hydration and transforming your skin to a velvety soft, refreshed state. If price is a primary deciding factor, it has to be said that Valmont Moisturizing with A Cream is a little bit easier on the purse.
