Lancome Renergie vs Lancome Absolue Soft Cream

Before we dive into the comparison, let's begin with a *very* brief summary of Lancome. The company was founded by Armand Petitjean just outside of Paris in 1935. It originated as a fragrance house and later branched out to include luxury cosmetics. In 1964, L’Oreal bought Lancome and the company has been operating under the L’Oreal umbrella ever since. Lancome’s products are not hypoallergenic, vegan or cruelty-free, but they are non-comedogenic.

For this particular review, we'll be comparing the Lancome Renergie Multi-Lift Ultra Cream vs Lancome Absolue Soft Cream.

Lancome’s Renergie Multi-Lift Ultra Cream and Lancome’s Absolue Soft Cream have both been designed with luxury in mind. They both arrive in stunning packaging and have rich, creamy formulations. These products make for very effective night time moisturisers due to their viscosity (thickness/richness). Although their texture may be similar, who they are intended for differs slightly. Lancome’s Renergie cream targets fine lines and wrinkles, whereas the Absolue cream is targeted towards revitalisation and brightening. Having said this, both of these creams would be suitable for all skin types. Due to the nourishing ingredients, Lancome boasts that both of these products leave the skin feeling soft and more supple.

The main ingredient in Lancome’s Renergie cream is linseed extract. Linseed extract is a powerful antioxidant which helps protect against environmental triggers that can cause skin to age prematurely. Contrastingly, the key ingredients in the Absolue cream are rose and panthenol. Actually, the Absolue cream contains three different variations of Rose; "Lancome Rose", "Rose Damascena" and "Centifolia Rose". Rose is a hugely popular ingredient in the world of skincare as it has so many amazing benefits. It boasts anti-inflammatory properties and is an antioxidant powerhouse. As the Absolue cream is targeted towards those who are after a brightening effect on the skin, Lancome have included panthenol. Panthenol is a derivative of vitamin B5 and is known for its hydrating and brightening properties.

Whilst the main ingredients of these two products differ, one ingredient they both include is shea butter. Shea butter is often included in cream-based products due to its moisturizing properties. Moreover, shea butter contains lots of useful fatty acids that protect the skin’s protective barrier from pollutants.

As previously mentioned, luxuriousness is a major priority for Lancome. Products arrive in beautiful packaging and contain high-quality, expensive ingredients. Not only this, but Lancome has a huge marketing strategy. For almost all products, Lancome will put out advertisements on the TV, social media and billboards. They also use A-List celebrities to campaign for them. So with all this considered, it is no surprise that Lancome products are a little pricey, with the Renergie cream (50ml) retailing at ~$100 and the Absolue cream (60ml) retailing at ~$150. But, with over 9000 positive reviews between them, they are well worth the price.

When it comes to deciding between the two, it's important to refer back to their stated benefits. Though they are both indeed anti-aging moisturizers, Lancome's Renergie Multi-Lift Ultra Cream places slightly more focus on targeting wrinkles and firmness. Alternatively, Lancome's Absolue Soft Cream is geared more towards targeting dullness, dryness, and uneven skin tone.
